The project revamped the maintenance management system, which needed critical changes in these areas:

A significant training and data correction effort made the new design deploy successfully. Plant shutdowns and project activities were also mapped in SAP-PS.
The challenge
A dedicated user team was formed to run the project. System design changes focused on four themes:

Financial system integration was also improved to lower operational costs and make costs easier to identify.
The solution
To save costs during plant shutdowns and project execution, the maintenance management system was integrated with the project management system. This integration delivered three benefits:
Maintenance and project planning worked from one connected system.
Clearer information supported stronger negotiations with vendors.
Costs were easier to see and track across shutdowns and projects.
The new system also lowered operational expenses by making better use of inventory and improving procurement planning.
