The challenge
Besides rolling out the SAP solution, the client also had to put a new safety solution in place to replace a costly legacy application.
A costly legacy safety application
The existing safety system was a UK-based legacy application that came with an ongoing support fee.
SAP WCM at one year's support fee
A SAP-based Work Clearance Management (WCM) solution was introduced for a cost equal to just one year of the legacy system's support fee. The client no longer pays ongoing maintenance and support fees, which brought significant savings.
The solution
We used an enhancement model to build applications for specific safety requirements, and added standard procedures that work fully inside SAP:
- Scaffolding worksAn application for scaffolding work requirements.
- Confined space regulationsAn application that follows confined space rules.
- Radioactive work safetyAn application for radioactive work safety requirements.
- Tag-out / lock-outStandard procedures, fully integrated with SAP.
Together these kept the plant compliant with its safety protocols while streamlining operations.
